Graham Bell to take part in epic endurance challenge - Marathon des Sables

Known as one of the toughest footraces on Earth, the Marathon des Sables is a gruelling 251km ultra marathon across the Southern Sahara desert. Graham Bell will be taking part in this incredible test of endurance to raise money for Head Start which is Walking With The Wounded’s programme aiming to support all veterans with physical, mental or social injury to gain the skills and qualifications necessary to develop new careers outside the military.

The equivalent of six marathons in five days, this epic challenge will take place in incredibly tough conditions while the competitors carry all food, bedding, first aid kits, clothing and equipment themselves. No stranger to tests of endurance, Graham has been heavily involved with triathlons for many years and in 2012 the five-time Olympic skier took on the Henley-on-Thames Challenge Iron Man challenge.

A three-part documentary will focus on the training of the team members and their motivation for running as well as the event itself. It will particularly focus on Graham and former English professional Rugby League player, Keith Senior, who is also taking on this challenge.

Graham commented: “I’m really looking forward to taking part in this incredible event – it will be a real test of endurance, as well as a fantastic way to raise valuable funds for a very worthy cause. I’m sure this will be one of the toughest challenges of my life.”

The Marathon des Sables will take place 03 – 13 April 2015.
